Rohit builds intelligent interactive systems. The central themes of his work are amplifying human productivity and enriching human-machine interactions. Through his consulting firm (VoiceThesis), Rohit is helping organizations build the third generation of conversational AI. Check out Rohit's spatiotemporal intelligence project that adds a machine understanding layer to location sequence data. Most recently, he was the Head of AI at MajorBoost (acquired by SuperDial) where his built voice AI agents for healthcare.
Previously, Dr. Kumar was a senior researcher at Spotify and Raytheon. He built consumers facing conversational systems (like AI DJ) and led technology development efforts for intelligent tutoring and real-time speech translation systems. His work directly contributed to increasing system resilience against failures in speech recognition and machine translation, making translation systems rapidly adaptable for timely deployment in emergencies scenarios and deploying state-of-the-art interactive systems/components.
Dr. Kumar has authored over 70 publications. He graduated from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. His dissertation studied multi-agent architectures for conversational AI systems. He developed early technologies for enabling social interaction with machines and supporting human collaboration.
Rohit spends his time traveling and cooking. He is fascinated by the American Roadrunner and the Ocotillo shrub.
